What it is
Riverside captures each participant's audio and video locally, up to 4K, then uploads the files after recording rather than streaming them live. That design protects quality when someone's internet drops mid-interview. On top of the recording layer it adds transcription, an editor that works from the transcript, and clip tools that pull short vertical cuts from a long session. The tradeoff is scope: it is a recording and repurposing tool, not a live-audience or live-streaming product, and the editor is lighter than a dedicated NLE.
